Low Signal Strength Inspire 1 with X5 camera with Map Pilot

During the last few map flights I've flown (about 8 maps over three weeks) the map image blinks constantly when connected to the Inspire with X5 camera and the camera image is weak and broken with a delay. When I upload the flight to healthy drones it gives me a signal score of zero and a very poor signal strength throughout the mission. When I fly a normal flight with the DJI Go app and upload to healthy drones the signal score is 100 and no issues with the performance.

I'm using Ipad mini 2 with all other apps besides map pilot closed and tried restarting the iPad with no change. Any idea how to remedy this?

We haven't heard of this happening before. There isn't much that is different in the app between using the X3 camera and the X5 camera.

The camera feed will blink when an image is taken. Delayed and pixelated or distorted video certainly shouldn't be happening. This sounds like a hardware issue since there isn't really anything Map Pilot can do to make the signal strength go bad.

Are you making sure that your antenna are pointed at the aircraft properly to maximize the signal strength?

Are the flights that have good signal and using DJI Go done in the same area? We have seen a lot of signal degradation due to interference.

If you have access to the faster iOS device you might want to try that too. The Mini 2 is the absolute lowest model we support and it might be causing issues.

Thanks for that. It does it even when sitting on the ground right next to me. I can fly a mission and I get the flashing map screen the whole time (squares covering ~1/16 of the screen blink off and on constantly and alternate across the whole screen) and the camera image is a second or so delayed and unclear. I can finish a mission, close out, and switch to the Go app while still in the air and it works fine with the GoApp.

I tried it on iPhone 6, just connecting, not flying a mission, and it seems all normal so it looks like it is likely an issue with my iPad mini2.

We can't reproduce what you are seeing so we can't make recommendations on how to fix it. Please make sure that all of your firmwares and Map Pilot are up to date.

DJI doesn't use their own public SDK for DJI Go so there are bound to be some differences.

If this problem is still happening g and you have not resolved it, try using different lightning cables to your iPad. We have found some cables do exactly that and others give perfect image back to the app. Failing that check cables and pins of the camera and gimbal, clean connections and you should be go.
