If you included the ground reference image at the time of upload the elevation layer will be with respect to sea level, if not, it will be with respect to the takeoff location.
The absolute elevation of the map doesn't really matter though for volume calculations since it is a relative measurement.
If you volume measurements are not making sense try using lots of points around the perimeter of the area you are trying to measure 20-30 points is more accurate than 4 since we will have more data to create the dynamic base from which the rest of the values are subtracted.
