Open 3D model in Google Sketchup

Does anyone has any experience with importing the .obj file with texture into Google Sketchup? How can I import it to Sketchup with texture?

If I want to do any changes on my model, wich 3D software is recomended to use? I guess its not possible to make any changes in Sketchup?

If the OBJ isn't working in Sketchup, you could open is using MeshLab and save it as another file format that will work with Sketchup. If you don't need the full model resolution the KMZ file will work in Sketchup.

We recommend Blender as a good free 3D modeling software.

We will leave this open for a bit to see what other feedback you can get.

Hi, there. I am having the same problem with the *.obj file created by maps made easy. The file will only open in the windows 3D viewer. It does not open in windows Paint 3D. In sketchup i have installed different extension that are well know and recommended extensions to import *.obj files, but none would work with the 3d object created by maps made easy. the extensions i have installed in sketchup are

1. SimLab OBJ importer

2. Transmutr

3. FluidImporter Lite.

it seems to me, that there is a problem with the file created by maps made easy.

You need to include the OBJ file as well as the texture and material files. Download the OBJ, JPG and MTL files into the same folder and make a zip out of them for upload to SketchFab.
