HELP! Battery ran out & crashed

Help.  I just was making a map which would require 3 batteries.  While flying, my controller/iPhone started beeping, but the Maps Made Easy Pilot app did NOT recognize the low battery situation.  The Maps Made Easy Pilot app did NOT return the drone home.  At the last minute, I opened the DJI Go app, and it was flashing red....low battery.  Too late, I tried to fly the drone home manually....it ran out of juice and crashed!

Why?  I have made numerous maps before and I have successfully changed batteries during the process. I know how to follow the process. Only possible thing that comes to mind is that the app forced me to upgrade - against my better judgement.  Could that cause this big major error?

So now I have a damaged drone and a map that needs to be made by early next week.  And I'm afraid to use the app again.

HELP!!!!!!  Please!!!

We are sorry to hear about your incident. This was most likely caused by an uncalibrated battery. This can make the reporting of the state of the battery to any app unreliable and can cause unintended landing or other issues.

Map Pilot is not in charge of any flight. Once the flight is programmed into the aircraft the aircraft is fully in control. That is why if you were to unplug your mobile device from the remote the aircraft would continue to fly along as programmed without any other intervention.

Map Pilot only shows the percentage of battery power that is report and offers no alerts since that is handled by the beeping of the remote.

Calibrating your battery should be done every 20 cycles or so and consists of discharging the battery down to 8% or so and then doing a full and complete charge on the stock charger.
