Splitting an ortho into 2 smaller orthos - 2 different directions

Due to the length and dimensions of a large parcel, I'm splitting my master ortho into 2 smaller orthos. 1 ortho will run generally north-south and the other will run generally east-west (both will overlap). I'm running the 2 different directions to utilize the longest track of each ortho to reduce turns.

Will the 2 different directions compromise the integrity of the resulting master ortho?

If you have two longer sections like that it is actually better to break it up that way so they don't interfere with each other.

If the tracts are long and thin you may want to include some images from the opposing track so the model doesn't get turned oddly. Picture a table with 3 legs vs 2 legs. If your table just has 2 legs (totally straight line) it will help to add some images off to one side to help keep things flat.

To address my main concern, will the different directions of flight between the orthos (one ortho with the drone flying east-west and the other ortho with the drone flying north-south) cause a problem when the images are processed into one ortho?

The directions of the flight is not really the issue. If you are doing a giant L shaped job there is very little chance it will come out flat unless it is a very thick L. This is why we would recommend processing it in two separate chunks so you can merge it together in GIS software afterwards to get better results.
