Large Multi-battery mission

Has anyone done a very large multi-battery mission?
I've just been asked to do a 500ha area.Which I estimate will be somewhere between 10 and 18 batteries to complete. I'd rather break the job up into smaller chunks but would like a single kml output file if possible.

Any tips or suggestions?

This is definitely possible and we have a lot of customers that do it.

The main issue is for making sure it can be processed into a single map reliably is making sure it will fit within the limits of the TIF file type which is 65,000 pixels in X or Y (lat or lon). 500 ha at 2cm/px GSD is a very different thing than doing it at 10cm/px GSD.

Assuming your 500 ha is roughly square, each side would be about 2.7 kilometers. 2700 meters / 65000 pixels gives a max GSD of about 4 cm/px. This would put your flight altitude around 95 meters or so. Flying higher will also reduce the amount of batteries you have to fly.

In the interests of maintaining visual line of sight you will likely want to select a few different takeoff locations. When choosing these locations, try to pick points that are at the same altitude to keep our elevation tag processing intact.

Thanks Ryan,
I think this time I'll break the job up into more manageable chunks. As you mentioned the elevation processing is a bugger if you can't maintain the same altitude for TO.It would be nice if there was a system/process for merging different flight missions into a single job. It's the DEM that suffers as well as the kml, I just love that kml file!
