Phantom 3 EXIF Tag Accuracy

I saw a post on another board where you talk about the P3 pro having excellent GPS data including altitude. In your demo videos you say that going with only GPS data from the EXIF is not very accurate. Does this change with the release of the P3?

The altitude tags that are placed by the P3 are taken from the barometric altimeter and are relative to the ground. They are accurate in a relative sense but not an absolute sense. To overcome this, we use a ground reference image taken at the takeoff point to lookup that location's actual ASL elevation and add the offset to all the images. The earlier of the posts was likely comparing it to the P2 Vision+ which was terrible with its GPS locations and didn't provide enough precision.

We have added a new tool for converting the bad GPS altitude data that gets written into the GPS Altitude EXIF value to a corrected value based on a user provided elevation or ground reference image.

This will allow for people not using our Maps Made Easy processing system to process their data elsewhere while taking advantage of the steps that we do behind the scenes.
