Issues with elevation warping on 3d ouput

Beginner here - I recently attempted to create an orthomap but saw some strange issues in the 3D image. I understand that trees are very difficult to work around, but I am having trouble understanding the output in the 3d section.

I suspect there is a lot of 'I don't know what I don't know' as I am trying to learn. But could your team provide any wisdom as to what may have occurred or how I can improve on this? I realize the overlap report indicates that the density of photos could be better, but I suspect there is more. THank you in advance.

We are sorry to hear you are not happy with your results. You have a few things going on here. Firstly, you barely have enough overlap to get a solid result, let alone a solid 3D result. We HIGHLY recommend using at least 80% overlap if you care about the accuracy of your 3D results.

You are correct about trees being hard to work with. The one thing that is harder to work with is reflective surfaces but for mostly the same reason: the features change when you look at them from different angles.

If this is the dataset that was collected with your most recent Map Pilot Pro flight which had 80% selected there may be something going on with the high resolution setting.

To get better results with reflective surface you want to use a circular polarizing filter to cut some of the reflections.

While we look into why you are not getting the overlap you have selected you can experiment with using higher overlap settings and doing a cheap/fast first cut at the processing using the .25 downscaling option to see that the overlap is OK. Using 80% overlap should yield an Overlap Report that is fully dark blue, which is what you want.
