I registered at Sketchfab and copied/pasted the API token into my Mapsmadeeasy profile. I refreshed the page, waited, refreshed again, etc. But it will not accept it. Why?

You shouldn't have to wait at all. Put it in and refresh the page to see that it is valid.
It appears that you don't have any exiting models in your account and that was throwing off our check (all of our test accounts are chock full). We have fixed the issue. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. Your token is showing as valid now.

More than likely you just didn't confirm your account in SF by clicking on the link in the email they send. When you're in SF, it looks like it's all good and you see the token, but it is not usable by MME until you confirm your SF account via the emailed link.
