This is a very frustrating little icon. I use an iPad Mini 2 and have been making use of the lock/unlock to edit a mission (defined by 4 points) to create a new one adjacent to it (unlock the keep two points and move the other two so the missions share a common boundary).
I would have to say that at least 9 out of 10 times when I try to click on the lock symbol, the flight details pullout appears instead. You then have to close it and try again. The onscreen area where the lock symbol is recognised appears to be impossibly small and I still can't figure out exactly where it is.
Also just as a comment - the usage of this icon is counter to standard practice. Normally an app would operate in one of two modes 1. It would show the icon at all times either in the open hasp configuration (unlocked) or closed hasp (locked) or 2. It would show no icon when unlocked but a closed hasp icon when locked.
In the case of Map Pilot the open lock icon is visible when the map is locked - the reverse of what one would expect.

Just adding my support for this request. I also use an ipad mini 2 and without a stylus it's nearly impossible to get these icons to open in the field. The icons for unlocking the mission specs (padlock) and deleting a boundary (trash can) do not work reliable]y. The icon pixel tolerance is too small and you have to hit them in exactly the right spot, otherwise the “survey statistics pullout” appears. Very frustrating.
