Flight Plan for 3D Mapping Using Point Estimator

Can the calculations of the Point Estimator tool be used for 3D Mapping.  Meaning, can I use the  exact same flight plan and just alter the camera angle?  What is the recommended number of different camera angles and elevations to use?  Would just flying the same flight path but with a 45 degree camera angle and elevation set to where you can't see the horizon be adequate or do I need to also add a different flight bath so there are images of structures from different horizontal angles? I don't use IOS so I'm using a different pilot app but like the point cloud tool here.
