I'd like to map an area that is several miles from an airport, but a bit hard to get to. The easiest point to operate from is just barely under a 60m altitude restriction extending out from the runways. This poses a problem for the usual mapping workflow: when MPP commands the climb to 120m, the drone gets to 60 and ignores the continuing climb input (my drone only supports virtual joysticks. Not sure if this is different for waypoint-capable drones).
The entire affected area has no restrictions and can be flown without issue, if I could just get the drone out from under the altitude restriction first. What's the recommended approach to this? Can I use MPP to manually fly out from under the restriction and start in midair? Should I use the DJI app to fly out to a safeish spot, land, then switch apps and proceed from there? And after a manual landing to do a battery swap, how do I set things up to get MPP to continue the mission?
Thanks.
