Questions on Photographing & Mapping a Small Area

Hi,

I have a relatively small area (a residential property of approx. 1 sq. acre) that I would like to photograph with a DJI drone using Map Pilot for DJI.

I am trying to accomplish the following goals:

1. Get sufficient aerial coverage so that I can download the photos and make a georeferenced .TIFF image file of the entire property using your Georeferencing workflow.

2. In addition, I want to be able to take more detailed photos of specific areas of the property (ie, a large slope in the backyard or an orchard) from a lower angle (not at nadir), at something more like a 60 degree angle.  These photos would be like the photos you see from a residential real estate listing where the Realtor has employed a drone pilot to photograph the property.

If I use Map Pilot for DJI will the photos only be suited for Goal # 1 above?

Should we then fly a second mission to get the desired type of photos described in Goal #2 above?

Any tips or advice you can offer for the above described situation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Since it is a small area I would recommend doing a slightly larger area just to make sure you get solid overlap over the parts you do need. Use 80% and it will still likely be free to process.

1. Use Map Pilot and fly a slightly larger area at 80% overlap. Then upload the images to Maps Made Easy to get a georeferenced GeoTiff.

2. You will have to do these images manually. Please do no include them in your uploaded images to Maps Made Easy.

If you have questions on the upload process we recommend running the sample data set through the system so you can see how the whole process works.
