Updating mission planning map with

Is there a way to update a mission planning map?  I'm currently mapping an area that used to be wooded.  Trees are cleared and a lot of new infrastructure exists.  I want to be able to fine tune my flight so I don't waste time and money mapping areas I don't really need.  I had to use my guestimate for the first map.  I would like to update my mission flight...is there a way to overlay or use the my map with the mission planning map?

There are a few ways to do this.

You can save the mission and if you have the Base or Pro subscription it will download an offline basemap. That might be slightly different from the standard Apple Maps version.

You can import your own data from ArcGIS or Mapbox as the data source.

These links are for the older version of Map Pilot but the process is the same in Map Pilot Pro.

Or you could fly a overview map in Map Pilot Pro, process it in Maps Made Easy and then use the colorized DEM as the source for your layout. This might give you enough landmarks to go from.

Or you can create a quick markup KML file in Google Earth or some other source to use as a guideline for your layouts.

Just thought of another way to do it. Do the quick high flight that covers a big area. Downscale the images by .25 so it is free to process. Then you can draw some lines and polygons to mark the boundaries. Then you can export the KML from your quickly overview's Map Detail page by clicking on the 'KML of Annotations' link that shows up under the 'View Full Screen' button after reloading the page.

Your second idea would probably be best.  What would I do once the KML of annotations is downloaded though?  How would I show that on my mission plan?

The color selection only works when creating the features. The only way to do it after the fact would be to open the KML in Google Earth and change the attributes there.

To add text you would need to place a marker.

Any plans on adding the feature to label everything, including marker, and adjust colors in the future?  Would be very helpful
