Couple of bug reports for latest iOS app

Hi Zane,

A few issues I have noticed using your app.  Running the latest app version and iOS 14.2 on iPhone and iPad (same issues on both):

1. Map always defaults to metric.  New and even saved missions. Metric measurement is turned off in main settings. ha/km always appears instead of ac/mi.

2. During a mission, the section of the app that allows you to tap on user, drone or area.  This can be easily tapped by mistake ruining the entire mission. I click on area, by accident, the other day.  It flipped the camera up, destroying the entire mission. Ugh. Maybe a prompt to use the these features?

3. Estimated flight times are usually not correct. Off by at least 4 minutes....but this may be due to "light based settings"

4. Advanced settings = "turn mode" Turning this to curved or straight does nothing at all during the mission or planning.

5.Sync issues - already known about from previous thread

These don't really seem to be related to the 14.2 update.

1. This is not the case but there is something weird going on there. It does default to being Metric. If you switch the value to not be metric in the Settings then the units are not displayed in Metric. The button to switch the unit type seems to not get set properly at first when the units are not set to Metric in the Settings.

2. That button doesn't do anything to contact the aircraft. It changes the area the map displays to follow the user, follow the drone or show the whole area of the survey. If that camera flipped up that was likely a coincidence or you possibly have your C1 and C2 buttons set to move the camera (which is common).

3. Yes, this reading is not accurate if the aircraft is slowed due to lighting conditions. This estimate is made while the aircraft is on the ground and assumes that the programmed flight speed will be executed.

4. Correct. It does nothing during mission planning. It changes the way the aircraft turns to combat gimbal drift issues on certain aircraft. Straight corners goes further into the corner, turns, and continues. Curved corners are the default way and keep the aircraft moving. Curved flights take a little less time. The flight time estimates do not take the Straight mode setting into account.

5. 5.0

Thanks for the reply.  I'm just telling you what is happening on both of my iOS devices (iPad Pro and iPhone 6S). Both devices have been wiped clea and reinstalled app.  Same issues.  I didn't say they were related directly to iOS 14.2  These are bugs that need to be ironed out.

1. Happens every single time.  Doesn't matter what I do.  Tried many different combinations of things. Always defaults to metric no matter the actual main setting.

2. No, those buttons definitely do something. Area points it 90 degrees.  You can easily watch in the camera preview window.  Click on the other and it goes to nadir.  I repeatedly can replicate this over and over and over. No hitting any buttons.  Only tapping the icons on the screen.

4. I do not notice it flying differently.

1. Are you looking at the button in the bottom slideout that switches the units display or are you looking at the numbers in the top left flight plan stats slideout? I am using 14.2 and am seeing imperial units appropriately when the setting is made. The initial state of the button is off.

2. We will look into this.

4. It is a subtle difference. Part of the goal of adding it was because P4Ps and the X4S cameras seem to drift and no longer be aligned with the path of travel.  It seems to have worked well on your last couple of flights if it was used.

1. I am looking at the bottom slide out where the save button, units, maps and magnify glass are.

It never defaults to imperial on either of my devices.  Always goes to metric no matter if it is turned on or off in settings menu.  Change settings. Create new mission. It is the same.

The top slider showing area, speed, duration, etc. does set to the default setting from the settings menu.  It is the bottom slider ha/km-ac/mi button that does not reflect the actual setting.

Thanks for looking into the #2 and answering question about #4.

1. Will be fixed in upcoming 4.1.14 release.

2. Yikes. This has some debug stuff in it. This just goes to show that either no one uses that feature or no one reports stuff because that has been there since July. Will be fixed in upcoming 4.1.14 release.

Thank you for bringing these to our attention.

A few other bugs to mention:

1. The iPhone 7 Plus does freeze up and crash during map creation when moving around corners, etc.  I actually just had it crash when I wasn't doing anything at all.  It was literally sitting for a minute.

2. When overlaps are set to 90% and you adjust the flight orientation/path the grid or lines disappear. I notice when this happens, the home point also vanishes.

3. iPad and iPhone both exhibit this issue - The app can never find my exact location.  The "blue location bubble" gets big, then small, then big again.  It is constantly doing this.  I have all permissions set appropriately

1. When you are moving the corners around a whole bunch of stuff is happening. It is a high CPU use activity. We go back and forth between trying to dumb it down which makes it feel unresponsive and having it wide open, which causes crashing on older devices. If we pulled your crash log it would say "CPU Usage" which means the battery gave up trying to supply power to the CPU for that activity. This started happening AFTER Apple stopped doing the throttling they got in trouble for. We may have to go back down to having it update more slowly. Until then just try to slow it down a bit.

2. This is your device going nuts for the same reason as in #1.

3. Does it do the same thing in Apple Maps? For that we only get/display what is reported.

Thank you.  Apple Maps as in the actual stock ios map app or using apple maps in MP?  Doesn't do in stock ios app.  Yes, using apple maps in MP.

I do notice it usually says 3rd party in the bottom slider.  It has been defaulting to that on my ipad, not on the iphone. Now that I look closer, it is only happening on the iPad (which is wifi only)
