App Freezes for 15 Seconds When Map First Shown

Hello I am using "Map Pilot Business" v4.1.13 on iOS 14.2 using an iPhone X.   Every time I start the app after it has been fully closed (force -quit) or the phone restarts of the app is killed in the background -- when I either create a new mission or open a mission plan, the App completely freezes for around 15 seconds before I can do anything at all.  (I do see any acknowledge the "Important! Automated flight has an increased risk.." message, and after hitting okay the interface is just completely frozen).

Any ideas what might be causing this?  I am afraid to use the app in-flight now as this hints at a possible unreliability.

Thanks,

- Shawn

Hmmm. Hopefully this isn't a 14.2 issue...

Is the basemap loading?

What if you are in Airplane Mode?

Are you logged in to MME or not?

The flight part of things is probably fine but there might be some internet communications stuff going on.

Yes the basemap seems to load and after the app unfreezes I can pan around and the maps all load fine.

When I put the phone in airplane mode -- I still had the same 15 second delay before I could do anything.  But after that, as expected, I could pan around but no other imagery would load and the position indicator was gray and not blue (since the GPS wasn't active).

Yes I am logged into MME in Settings.  -- I logged out and observed the same results.

One thing I just noticed during the "freeze" in the upper left (next to the back arrow) it says "Not Connected" and as soon as this changes to "Looking for Drone" then it unfreezes.

Is this a fresh install of the app?

Did it the same version ever work for you?

No this is not a new install; I have been using it for quite some time.  Though it has been a while since I have run the app - so I can't precisely state when this started to occur.   I hate to delete and re-install it as I have a number of saved missions I don't want to lose (I could try syncing them to another device first).

Sync the Mission Plans up to Maps Made Easy, check the site to make sure everything is there and delete away! Having a bunch of old missions on there might be the issue.

I noted all of my settings, synced the missions, then deleted and reinstalled the app.  After re-installing the app I added back the settings one at a time then checked to see if the issue reoccured.  But I was able to setup everything back to normal (including synching the 27 missions) and it all seems to work fine now!  I do notice that after force closing the app, and then starting a new mission (for the first time only) after dismissing the warning message the first touch on the map doesn't register, but the second touch does and I don't have to wait 15 seconds afterwards like before.  At this point I consider this solved -- though another iOS oddity.  So if anyone else has this issue - try deleting the app and reinstalling it; as it at least worked for me.
