iOS 14 Compatible?

Is the app compatible and tested with iOS14?

I think I just saw an issue. Having just upgraded both my iPhone 11 Pro Max and my iPad Pro to iOS 14, I was unable to fly mapping missions. The drone would take off and hover at about 2 meters. After about a minute of this, I switched to A mode and landed. I got the same behavior on both devices over several attempts.

I also tried deleting the mission. When I went back to re-create it, it was still there.

I also noted that when the drone got a GPS fix, Map Pilot was reporting me at 1500 meters range, when I was actually less than 3 meters away. I checked iOS location permissions for Map Pilot and that seemed fine.

I deleted and reinstalled the app on both devices and everything was fine. I've flown several missions with both since reinstalling with no issues at all.

That sounds a flight issue, not really an app issue. If your iPad is WiFi only the range can be way off.

It is interesting that it went away after reinstalling.

If you have log files for the flights that stopped at 2 meters you could look at the log files to see what they say the reason for the stop was.

I am actually having some issues on my iPhone and iPad. The app has crashed on me quite a few times during creation of a new mission. This was not happening at all before. They are fresh installs.

I also noticed when creating a new mission, the mission seems to not be optimized.  I can "re-arrange" the flight and save a good amount of time and images.  Should I leave it on the initial flight arrangement for best map quality?

There is nothing different in how we are doing the layouts. You are free to rearrange it however you like. There is no attempt by Map Pilot to optimize for the shortest flight duration. The layout is drawn to be aligned between the survey area's center of mass and the designated takeoff location.

We will look into the crashing but this was more likely due to fast rotations or the pass orientation that is possibly specific to the layout.

We had a LOT of issues with the iOS 13 update. There is a lot more CPU consumption in general with almost every iOS update. This leaves older devices a bit power starved... When the app/OS requires more CPU it drains the battery harder and leads to a "Battery Usage" or "CPU Usage" related crash. This is now it gets reported to us through the Apple crash reports. It isn't necessarily a code issue but we may need to turn down the ability to do things quickly. Again. We hate dumbing down the responsiveness of the controls for the sake of not causing the CPU and Battery related crashes but we may have to if there are a lot of reports about it. We have already had to do this before and limited the layout updates to 20 Hz.

Thanks for the reply. It was actually when I was entering the corners of the map. Before I even got to the point of rearranging any flight path. Yes so far, it has not happened again and has not happened on my iPad. Oh sorry my previous post stated there was an issue with the iPad. So far, so good on that.

Adjusting the flight path will do nothing from a map quality perspective? The data will still produce the same results? Initially, it was doing a zigzag pattern down a long thousand yard stretch of land. It is a thin piece of land. When I rotated the flight path so it was as much straight up and down it shaved nearly 3 minutes off and image count. I’m not sure, but I logically would think the map would be slightly less detailed flying this way on a normal mission? Is the zigzag pattern preferred?

Since that topic is completely unrelated to iOS 14 compatibility please post it as a new question and include screenshots so we can see what you are talking about.

I spoke too soon. The app just crashed on me after trying to adjust the flight speed of a mission. Using an iPad Pro running the latest iOS 14 update. I know this device is more than powerful enough for the operating system.
