DJI has still not added support for the Mavic Air 2 to the SDK which allows us to talk to it. Until then you can download the LITE version for free for evaluation purposes.
I noted that Map Pilot will support Mavic Air two in version 5, any idea when this will be released. I don't want to purchase the app, then it doesn't work.
Is there perhaps a version that one could test before deciding to purchase the app? Where can I get training videos on how to use the app?
Thanks

This is contradictory to what Tudor replied 4 days ago on another post.
Tudor’s exact words: “DJI just released the SDK update so we are not working to get it added. It will be supported in version 5.0 of Map Pilot”
So, which is the correct answer now?
So what if we adjust the focal length and pixel pitch and all other parameters manually for Mavic Air 2? Will it work?
That would work for the path spacing and everything but the aircraft won't connect or trigger since it isn't supported yet.
Will there be an email or other notification sent out to people that bought the app? If not, is there a place that we can sign up to be notified?
Thanks
We will update all of the relevant threads and have it in the notes for the release.
In this post a DJI forum which addresses Mavic Air 2 SDK support, a DJI representative posted that even once the SDK supports the MA 2, the aircrafts hardware, firmware or both may still not support waypoints beyond the 5 supported in the hyper-lapse mode.
Can Drones Made Easy confirm that Map Pilot will include full functionality for the Mavic Air 2 once the supporting SDK is released? I love the portability of the MA 2, but if I can't use Map Pilot with it, I need to move on to another drone.
I realize the MA 2 is not your product, and you may not have this information, but I'm hoping theres a chance you can shed some light on the topic.
We can only support it if DJI lets us. I don't know why they have taken so long to add support for that particular aircraft. To my knowledge they have never done this before. We absolutely can not confirm that it will be supported until we do further testing which will require waypoint support in the SDK from DJI.
From DJI today:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting DJI.
Sorry that the Mavic Air 2 is not supported by both the waypoint mission V1 and V2, limited by the drone itself.
Thanks,
Luce Luo

Hi,
It has been many months since I purchased the app. And there is no sign of being able to use it. Should I just request a refund from the Apple Store?
@Fig Ramsey Why would you expect a refund? As far as I have read, there was never any promise of support for the MA2. Where did you get that idea?
Dave and Fig: We fully intended to support it if we were able to. Fig purchased his equipment from us (the best type of customer) months ago when we (and everyone else) assumed the MA2 would eventually be supported. I am not sure that Apple will grant a refund after so long but we will certainly apply the purchase price as a credit to any further purchases if not.
We have NO idea why DJI isn't able to support waypoint flight with the M2A. Their post said that it was a hardware issue but every single aircraft they have made since the Phantom 3s has been waypoint capable so who knows.
Got it.
DJI doesn't always project accurate messaging from time to time so there is probably still hope.
Spring is here & I'm anxious to use my drone for the purchased purpose. Any updates on the update?
DJI has not indicated adding any sort of waypoint support for for the MA2.
They also seem to be skewing very aggressively away from supporting iOS devices at all. I encourage all of you to make your preference for iOS devices known to DJI to ensure that you don't have to go buy all new devices in the future.

I had Map Pilot and upgraded to Map Pilot Pro. I now have a Mavic Air 2 yet still cannot use it with Map Pilot Pro. I can not find where to get the Lite version for my IPad. How do I get it?
No version of Map Pilot has ever supported the Mavic 2 Air since DJI has not added waypoint support to it.
If this is still an SDK problem, how are other apps able to support the Mavic Air 2? Not a debate, just trying to understand the mystery. If this is old news, my apologies. I'd just like to know if it works before moving my workflow over to Map Pilot and Maps Made Easy. Thanks.
As noted in the final post in this thread DJI has stated that the Air 2 series of aircraft will not have waypoint support and therefore will not be compatible with Map Pilot Pro.

It sounds like DJI is making waypoint flight a differentiating feature between the different product lines. Apparently Air = no waypoints.
"how are other apps able to support the Mavic Air 2?"
The other apps are using what has been called "virtual sticks". Basically, the app is sending instructions of where to go in real time just like when you input stick control manually. It is not "waypoint" based flight like used in Map Pilot and other mapping apps.
Thanks Dave, missed that part. Virtual RC (virtual sticks) is the workaround. It doesn't work very well the further you get away from the home point. For it to work well it really has to have a solid RC connection. It works fine for smaller jobs though. At this point we do not anticipate adding Virtual RC support for the flight control.
We have added Virtual Stick support for the Mavic Air 2 since it does not support waypoint flight. It is currently in beta but we are hoping to release it soon. Any currently supported aircraft can actually use our Virtual Stick support.
We plan on supporting the Air 2S, Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced and Mavic 3 when DJI updates the SDK. We hear this might happen at the end of March. Allegedly...

Otherwise keep an eye out for the public release of 5.4.0.
