Map Pilot started crashing with IOS 13.1.1

I am running Map Pilot 4.07 on a 2018 ipad (9.7 inch, 32gb) running IOS 13.1.1.

Before the 13.1.1 upgrade all was well but today flying after the upgrade proved impossible as it keep crashing. The first time it started the mission then just crashed with the drone in flight.

I have just been using my iPad at home not connected to the drone and it keeps crashing.

In the end I used my iPhone XR running 13.1 and luckily this worked fine.

BTW I have been running the same mission every three days for the last 6 weeks with no issue?

Help

NOTE: 4.0.8 has been released in the App Store to address iOS 13 related issues. 10/7/2019

We had the app working well with the preview release versions of iOS 13 but the new 13.1.1 update seems to have broken things. We are addressing those issues and hopefully getting a new version out soon. In the meantime I would recommend using a device with iOS 12 on it if you have access to one.

We always recommend waiting a bit to update because of issues like this.

PLEASE READ:

This is affecting tons of other apps out there as well. Apple kinda messed this one up.

I am having the exact same issue.  I may have lost a client over it.  I have a Samsung phone so I was out of luck.  I am using the same tablet you are and running the same update.  My app crashes over and over.  I tried for 2 hours to complete the mission, and it just kept crashing.  I would love some advise as well.

I was lucky that the iPhone worked otherwise I would have not to be able complete a very important flight for my customer.

OK so here is what I had to do to fix my issues.  I had to reset my IPAD back to factory defaults and then go back to software version 12.4.1 and my issues have been resolved.  I flew 3 missions this morning and I didn't have a single glitch.  I am not sure if something on my IPAD was interfering or if the new Apple software update was causing my problems.  I was having some problems before I updated, but not as bad.  However, everything seems to be working great again now.  I just wanted to share what I was able to do to fix this.  Hope this may help.

We are now getting some reports that updating to 13.1.2 fixes things. Yes, there is already another version out.

I updated to that version before I went back and I didn't have any success.  Could of just been my tablet.  Not sure.

13.1.2 does not fix the issue on my ipad mini.  Just installing 13.1.2 on my phone and will let you know if it fixes the issue on my phone.  First survey job in over 1 month this morning for a new client.  I really could do with out this issue.  Can anyone suggest an alternative mapping software?

Now upgraded the phone to 13.1.2 and have the same problem.  I have turned off Bluetooth on both devices.  No improvement.  The crash can come even when I am not trying to use the software but just have the interface open.  It does appear more stable with only one mission (and one mission file) loaded.  I am just going to have to try the mission and see what happens.  Finger on sport button!

SO, I flew the mission.  The software crashed repeatedly but the drone kept flying the mission planned course.  It must be taking photo's I thought.  I was wrong.  Thanks a lot Maps made "Easy"!!!  Any ideas how I explain this to my new client?

Dave: In general it is not a great idea to update iOS until a couple of weeks/months after the updates come out. They ALWAYS break something and have security issues. This is especially true if you are running a business and picking up new clients. We tested with the seeded versions of iOS 13 and things were working fine...

If you are in a pinch you could have used Connectionless mode which would have the aircraft take off and let the aircraft handle the image triggering instead of the app doing it. In Connectionless mode the app can crash or the RC signal can fully drop out and the aircraft will continue along the path taking the images.

Just FYI, I flew 2 more missions today with no issues at all.  I am not sure what worked for me, but after I deleted everything on my IPAD, reset it back to factory defauts, and went back to Apple software version 12.4.1, it seems to have corrected my issues.  I do not know  which one of the 3 things was the issue, but I am glad its working again now.

A version (4.0.8) that fixes the iOS 13 crashing issues has been submitted to the App Store.

Zane, thanks for the update re 4.0.8.  Does this mean that we have to wait for Apple to approve the release?  It is not showing in the UK App store yet and I am desperate to get back to something that I used to trust.  Tried drone deploy yesterday in desperation and I am very impressed with what it gives you online but the mission flown did not provide enough to use with your own software.

How about crediting those of us who have had issues with a few points as a gesture of goodwill?

I was doing a flight demo for a client and it kept crashing....it was intermittent and I have to un-installed it and re-install it. After a while, it started crashing again. Need a real fix. Thanks

Thanks Zane - just wondering how long it takes to get through the App store before it can be downloaded.

Zane, I think I asked the same question as Dave Strand 4 days ago.  Any update?

It has been released. I think if you go straight to the app and download it instead of waiting for it to show up in your list of apps to upload you might be able to get it soon. Short answer is: I don't know, soon?
