Official comment
Our JPG images are not compressed particularly aggressively. They usually come out to about 10% of the size of the uncompressed GeoTIFF image.

JPEG Compression
Does MME use any special software to compress the final stitched JPEG image? I had someone ask me how the JPEG images from MME are such a small file size compared to maps they have processed themselves in house.
