Manual Referencing - Distorted Image

My map looked great on the initial processing.  Then I performed manual referencing with GCP's.  The re-processed map has distorted images.  Can you help me figure out why the full resolution JPEG is distorted?

Thanks

You are correct. It is distorted to look wider than it should be. It looks the outputs are being projected differently than they are in the initial processing. They are correct when viewed in GIS software.

The JPG image won't be very different from the original since the only thing that will be different is the placement information.

We have fixed the issue and rerun the most recent job for you. Please see if that is better.

Thanks Zane.  Looks much better.

Would it be possible to rerun the 2nd job also.  Flight #2 is the one I am sending out to clients.  I flew the project early in morning and then at solar noon as an experiment.  The solar noon definitely turned out better.

Also maybe you could help me figure out another problem I had last year.  I imported a MME file into QGIS.  When I did it was distorted exactly like this map you just corrected.  Do you have any recommendations as to what setting I might try to change in QGIS to fix the image from being distorted?

Thanks

Scott

You can change the projection to EPSG:3857 to have it look right in there.

Zane, thanks for fixing those maps up, much appreciated.

I am trying to work with the Dem Geo Tiff In QGIS.  When I import the image it is warped.  I have tried changing several setting to EPSG:3857 as you suggested and I still cant get the image corrected.

Do you possibly have any other tips on how to reproject the image?  I have tried going to "Raster", "Projections", and "warp" with no luck.  I feel like I am so close it is killing me.

Thanks

Here is the original after importing the DEM into QGIS:

Here it is after selecting EPSG:3875:

Does it look OK after you select the different projection? Saving it may be a different story...

Zane,

Can you tell me the procedure you used to change the projection in QGIS?

I have tried selecting EPSG:3857 and it has not changed for me.

Thanks, and yes your second image looks correct.

Click the little globe icon in the lower right to the right of EPSG:4326

Select EPSG:3857

Hit OK

Thanks Zane, finally got it to work with your help.  I was using the Colorized Dem Geo Tiff.  Apparently it does not work with the colorized file?

Thanks
