map cut off-black

Aloha Zane,

I just made a another map with you, and I have never before encountered this...an entire section has been cut off and is black.  There are no sun spots, it is perfect.  This is quite a significant area that has been cut.  My map layout went straight across and the area is cut out is at several angles.  All of my map layouts are square, purposely to insure all is included.  All other portions of the map are exactly square as layed out.  What in the heck is going on.?.

Thank you,

Rebecca

What is the name of the map? I don’t see anything odd in the most recent maps in your account.

As a side note: You really need to start using Terrain Awareness. You have minimal overlap on the high side of your maps and way too much at the bottom.

The black section is where you had over 50x overlap which is too much. It just causes your processing to take way longer. Then on the high side you barely have enough to keep it together and the northernmost point did fall apart.

Zane-Acutally the overlap occurred in the upper center of the map, not in the area of blackness, as shown by white in your thermal imagery with red dots.  Usually, the red dots indicate sunspots, and there was no sun on this day.  I have learned through the years that a cloudy day will definitely produce the best results!  I could have easily deleted some of the overlap in that central area (and also saved pixels and money), but just let it be, do to the tedium.  The map was ok, as I always over compensate in mapping the area, because I don't want to have to go back out and do it again!!  I do not use terrain awareness as the areas on the Big Island Hawaii are quite variable with extremely low areas and also very high trees on slopes.

Many thanks for your attention and reply Zane
