Overexposed photos

The latest version of the app seems to make all my photos overexposed. They all seem to have the same shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings. According to an exif-viewer :
Exposure time : 0.0100 s (1/100)
Aperture : f/2.8ISO equiv. : 100
Whitebalance : Auto
Metering Mode : average
Exposure : shutter priority (semi-auto)

I've tried to do it with different phantoms (but same ipad), restarting the phantom, rc & ipad and the results are the same.

Also, is there a way to download & install an old version of the app?

Thanks

Update January 20: The new version with the Auto Exposure, Shutter Priority and Manual exposure modes has been released.

Sooo... We switched to using Shutter Priority Auto Exposure for the latest version. The problem with doing that seems to be that it is taking the last used exposure to lock on to and if that exposure was a long one, the aperture cannot stop down enough to cut out enough light to keep it from being over exposed. While this has only happened for a few jobs we have seen posted in the system we are certainly concerned with it and will find a fix. It appears the problem is that Map Pilot does not enforcer a defined starting point to lock the exposure time (shutter speed) to and simply uses the current setting.

The workaround for the time being would be to set the exposure time to 1/250-ish in the Go app, close it, and then open Map Pilot. This way Map Pilot should inherit the more appropriate exposure time value.

That being said, ALWAYS CHECK YOUR DATA!!! We always do a quicky map to test things out before taking real data.

There are ways to keep Lightroom from plowing your tags:
https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/help/metadata-basics-actions.html

It recently took 13 days to get through app review and we aren't totally sure where to set the starting point yet.

I have experienced this too. The two flights I flew on the most recent app gave me the same settings, overexposing my first flight by at least 3 stops making them unusable and by 1 or 2 on the second. While those would be usable after corrected. But when I corrected them in Lightroom and tried to upload I was told that the image process software has stripped the location data out of the images resulting in a bad map if used.

Any suggestions on how we are supposed to deal with this issue?

I agree that the Pictures are still not taken correctly / properly by the newly released Map Pilot App (Colors, Brightness and Sharpness).

Same thing here, all the pictures that were taken today are useless. Using the latest app version and latest firmware. The pictures are all taken at 1/100, but the last picture taken before that, using the DJI Go app, was taken at 1/857 (auto). Where would the 1/100 come from?

I have the same problem all over exposed , i have tried to change shutter speed in djigo but doesn't change in Map pilot.
I have to find a solution or my job will flyaway!
When could we expect the FIX ?
HELP

The temporary workaround works for me. I set the shutter value quite high at 1/1000 due the bright sunlight. Check if your exposure setting in dji go is on "m" instead of auto.

yes i have done that because it's very sunny here, and i have set in manual and 1/800 in dji go, but map still shot at 1/100

Here's what I do,
open DJI Go,
Go to camera settings
It should already be in Manual, if not, something is wrong.
Change shutter speed to 1/800 without changing anything else
click x to close the window
press top left to go back into main screen
then press home button
double click home button then kill the app
restart controller, and phantom
then only use map pilot to start mission.

Kevin: Thank you for your documentation of the workaround. We have verified that this works.

We sincerely apologize for this issue. We understand the frustration of taking bad data. Getting exposure correct is a fine balance between the automation of the auto exposure feature and the minimized smearing of a fixed exposure time. Apparently none of our testing was done in sufficiently bright conditions and did not expose this issue.

A new version has been submitted to Apple. This new version will have the auto exposure setting which should be used in bright conditions and a Shutter Priority mode which should be used in darker conditions.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and a new release will be available soon.

"top left" is actually a little icon with a house on it. i didn't want to say home button as people might confuse it with the ipad home button.

I can confirm that the work around works as stated BUT you have to make sure you restart your remote and phantom in the order as typed. I forgot to restart and didn't work. Followed the directions and it worked for me.

i have restarted phantom and remote and resarted without oppening djigo ( only map pilot and Djigo totally close ) .
when setting camera in djigo are you in "F" mode or "P" , a this time map pilot is totally close ?

Shutter speed can now adjust the knob on the remote control. It should be automatic. After pressing the knob adjusts EV. It should also be automated.

Where can i see the shutter speed on map pilot when i turn the knob ?

It was not visible. Slightly changes the brightness of the preview. When you exit and turn off Maps Pilots and you start to DJI GO and shows the details setting pictures, so there shows the last set value of the Maps Pilots.

Before a mission wheel to tune shutter speed, and check manually creating the image. Follow the variation generated image compared preview.
I hope that will be soon corrected version.

The issue basically is that we switched the capture mode over to Shutter Priority without giving it a starting point so the last shutter value is used and isn't always appropriate. It didn't show up in our testing because the lighting was fairly consistent between our flights. This was clearly not our intent. In all versions of the DJI SDK until the one we are currently in the process of updating to there was no way to report he currently used shutter speed. We hope this has been remedied in the latest version and will be displayed to the user if it is available.

The version that is in for App Store approval allows the user to select Auto exposure, Shutter Priority or Manual (experts only) along with a shutter speed. The elected shutter speed will be used with both the Shutter Priority mode and the Manual mode. We generally recommend not mapping if anything over 1/320 is required because of the amount of ground smear that is introduced. For the manual mode, we set the ISO to 100.

It was submitted for App Store approval last week but we generally have no idea how long it will take to be released.
