Mapping with GoPro and 5.4mm Lens

I have modified a GoPro 3 Black with the 5.4mm f/2.5 60d HFOV 10MP GP54025 lens.

When I upload images, the "Map Quality Warning" is displayed, as my EXIF info still indicates the standard GoPro 2.77mm focal length.

Do I need to alter the EXIF info, or just let the map be processed?

If you have another lens installed just go ahead and ignore the wide FOV image warnings. There is no need to update the exif to reflect the new focal length.

The exif GPS location is used in the georeferenced workflow, clearly. Other than that, most things are calculated if not supplied. It is always best to have the full compliment of exif information if possible.

F number doesn't matter at all. The focal length will be calculated no matter what. The entered value just gives us a good starting place. Accuracy of the final product won't be affected.

The bottom line is we don't want anyone touching their tags. Tag values that are inconsistent with the imagery does more harm than good.

I have found that when using the gopro I get offset images (scalng doesn't match base google maps).   Is this due to the 'incorrect' focal length?

Your overlap looks pretty good. It is more likely due to the tags not being super accurate. Time-based geotag insertion is pretty hard to do correctly and it always seems to be problematic.
