When inserting the .OBJ file into AutoCAD, the file comes in and looks correct but the distance measurements seem to be in meters. I would like to have the file on a known DATUM so the coordinates in the .DWG will make sense. Thanks!
We used to distribute it as Lat deg x Long deg x meters but too many people were having issues using it so now it is an unreferenced model in meters as long as the map itself is georeferenced.
The KMZ, which is lower quality at 250k faces, is still referenced. We have heard of people using that to line up the unreferenced OBJ.

After reading more in your help are, it looks like I should forget about the .OBJ file and just use the DEM to create contours and models in AutoCAD. The DEMs are georeferenced to the WGS84 Datum right?
The DEM has all of the same elevation information and is referenced but it is clearly not textured. If you are just looking for elevation information the DEM is the way to go.
