Filming instead of taking photos

I would like Map Pilot to have the option to only follow the path allowing the user to select other properties, like overlap amount (starting from 0%), speed, etc., letting the user choose to manually take photos or videos and control the gimbal angle.

We get this request pretty frequently. Taking video is outside the scope of what we are attempting to accomplish with this app.

The way it currently is, the user can select the max speed and an overlap value that is appropriate for mapping. The default position for the gimbal is nadir, but the user can adjust it after the aircraft has reached the cruising altitude.

What are you trying to accomplish with these requests? It doesn't appear to be mapping related.

I would recommend using DJI Go's waypoint solution for what you are trying to achieve. It will allow you to place arbitrary waypoints.

Map Pilot is intended for collecting map generating data only.

With the present version of DJI Go I only can define a few waypoints and I first have to place the quad on each point to record them.
I think it is possible to set them from iOS flight simulator but the map does not fit the screen in this mode so the map remains too small to do that.

And I believe I cannot separate points to near 1700m as I would need.
So I would need to create the path in my desktop as I am able with your app, not in the field wasting lots of battery only to acquire waypoints.
