Extending Minimum and Maximum Altitude Range

My experiment need used DJI Phantom 3 collect imagery at the
altitude around 10m.But the altitude range of Map Pilot for DJI APP just between 40m to 120m.

To extend the altitude range beyond the defaults, you need to tap and hold the Altitude slider for 8 seconds (while remaining very still).

The range can currently be extended to 10 meters to 300 meters. We do not enable this by default since it is not something we recommend doing. 10 meter flights greatly increase the chances of hitting something and anything above 120 meters is not legal in the United States and a lot of other countries. If you wish to extend the range you may do so at your own risk.

I think 25m is the lowest. You need to tap and hold the altitude selection for ~8 seconds to get the lower range. I believe 300m is max. I have a case on my phone that makes it hard to get the extended range to show up. It is there though.

The currently limit allowed by DJI for waypoint navigation is 400 ft. This might be changed in the future.

25m is better than 40m,but our experiment need capture very high resolution imagery at some small crop plots. So I think if 10m is available ,it maybe meet our requirement.

We will expand it down to 10m in our next release. We kept it relatively high because we don't want people crashing into stuff... 10m is a bit low to be useful for mapping unless only very flat surfaces are being surveyed.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you for your support. You are right, for most applications 25m or 40m is safer and enough. But agricultural applications and experiments often have been carried on fields which is flat in most instances.I think widely altitude range choice is better for widely applications. Thanks again!

The altitude could be adjusted to the value more than 120m in the "create a mission" page according to your guidance. However, The altitude will change back to 120m in the mission management, when it is saved. How to sovle it.

It is not possible to fly a mission at higher than 120m at this point due to restrictions by DJI. For this reason, we do not support saving a mission that can not be flown.

We too are using on flat agricultural fields and want increased resolution. The above mentioned that a new release will allow access to down to 10m elevation - just what we are looking for. What is the expected timeline on this?

It would be nice if there was an option to type in the altitude as the slider is hard to use with precision especially since it's located beside the edge of the screen for low altitudes.

It can be a bit hard to use. You can tap on either side of the slider to get it to do small bumps either way.

Rodrymendonca: We are not seeing that behavior.

Anyone else?

while creating the mission i'm able to pick the 25m high. after i save the mission and access the saved mission it goes back to 40m.

Hello all

I recently discovered issues while flying a mission for the purpose of getting a large DEM map created for a potential mine area.  The hill totalled an area of 396 Hectares and the elevations range from 420m upto 1159m.  I had to break the mission into multiple missions because with limited access going up to the top, battery life became an issue with flying long starting and ending positions.

I managed to get around this issue but had large issues with flight height restriction that i couldn't get around.  When flying one part of the mission i always encountered "could not accept missions as the flight height was below 200m from take off point" there were times i had to walk 300-400m away from the base point just to be able to take off and cause huge time delays plus also issues dragging generators and batteries to establish new take off areas without the error coming up.

i understand the flight restriction of going above 500m but how can i get around this if the base of the hill is 400m and the top of the hill 1100m. Im in Turkey and the terrain is steep.
