Preparing images before uploading for map proccesing

Hi, I'd like to do the following pre work to images before I upload them for processing. Slight sharpening, slight recover of highlights and shadows, remove chromatic aberration and rename them.

Obviously I'll make sure the Camera and GPS data remain on all images.

I do believe specially sharpening is slightly lost in MME processing. Last, does GSD vary from original images when processing in MME?

Thanks

You can do that as long as you don’t move any pixels. Changing color, and slight edge changes will not affect the processing.

You need to be sure to maintain the EXIF and XMP tags. Most image processing softwares do a really horrible job with that…

If the images are all taken at an equal altitude above ground the GSD stays pretty uniform. If the images are taken on a steep hillside and you do not account for terrain in your data collection then the GSD will be mixed.

Hi, thanks for your reply. After preparing images, I checked the File info of them in photoshop, and Metadata such us Basic data, Camera data, IPTC data, GPS data and Raw Data are all shown and embedded on images, so we should be good to go right? As all this embedded data is the EXIF XMO you mention

As long as the EXIF is there it will work in our Classic workflow. To use the DJI workflow you need the XMP tags.

Thanks. Last, should I use the DJI workflow rather than Classic Workflow? As I assume all data is embedded as XMP and we used a Phantom 4 Pro

The end processing is the same, but the DJI Workflow is cheaper and has more options. The XMP data is not another file. It is embedded in the images just like the EXIF data.

Ok thanks and sorry for the questions, so if I flew a DJI drone, it uses XMP and should be good to go with DJI workflow right?

Correct. As long as the tags don’t get mangled by the image processing.
