Maximum amount of images

Hi there

A client has asked me to map a new cable line route, which I have done. I completed in sections due to the large line required however, they are now asking if I can also process the route as one map. This would mean most likely using well over 1,000 images. Is this possible with Maps Made Easy?

Many thanks

Ross

You can upload up to 4000 images with Maps Made Easy. Uploading multiple linear segments is hard to do well but it is possible if you have a lot of overlap at the ends of each segment. You would need at least five or six images worth of overlapping area between adjacent sections. The best thing to do would be to try it with two sections and down what scale the images by .25 in step two of the uploader. That way you can try it at minimal cost.

Thanks for your input so far Zane, I appreciate it.

I have started to try as you say however I am coming across a couple of issues. The first is that I am getting a message come up when uploading the same shots saying something along the lines of 'not all photos are in a moving forward motion'. They are the same I have uploaded previously. I am also getting a problem where when photos are uploaded, there are some markers on the map of the photos, where they are red dots. Again, same shots which have uploaded previously without issue. Please could you let me know your thoughts? thanks again, Ross

We recently had to add a check for sideways and backwards flight because it was getting ignored so frequently. Map Pilot Pro doesn't allow you to take any data like this.

At least 60% of the images need to be taken while traveling forward. The message you see should tell you what percentage of the images are offending. Please send us a screenshot of the message you are getting and then scroll down a bit and take a screenshot that includes the dots that show where the images locations are. Lots of them will likely be red.

Thanks Zane.

I have just gone back into it. I have tried uploading the photos where I was getting the initial message re forward motion, but that has now disappeared and it has uploaded the shots. Here is a screenshot of the red dots. Let me know what I need to do next. Thank you

That looks fine. And it looks like there are less than 40% of the dots marked red. So just hit that blue button that says "Upload" to upload the images for processing. Nothing is stopping you.

Zane, I am not getting any further with this project.

The first attempt completed a full 2d Map but the GEO Tiff file only went for a certain section and then blank. Looking at the map, it has shown the attached (screenshots 1, 2 & 3). I wondered if this was something to do with the resolution so I have tried again at full resolution but the file was too big before I got to the end. Ive then noticed I needed more points, so I have purchased them. When trying again at 1/2 resolution, I get to my final sections now and they won't load and I am getting this new message (screenshot 4). Ive not had a problem uploading these images before. Why are they a problem now? As it stands I can't complete the project and I have put money down to do so. I hope you can help. Look forward to hearing from you.

The processing on all that was pretty normal. The southern section was able to use photogrammetry to match the images and gave a 3D result. The rest of the northern section was filled in with the Flat Map failover due to lack of overlap. You had some gaps in there and you have to have contiguous date for the photogrammetry processed section to be continuous. You should have a decent amount of overlap between adjacent sections. At least the failover was able to provide a result for the other areas.
