More features wanted

Ok Map pilot. Time to step up to the plate. Any chance to add oblique images as a feature? To be able to adjust camera angle would help in 3d models and even a auto 3d model feature with right angle flight incorporated.

Further to that when I plot odd shaped polygons can you make it fly in the polygon and not go over them.  Thus would cut down mission time and unless images if your nit just doing square or rectangular flights

At the moment I'm having to go to other apps to achieve these results.

Also any way to add syc to drone logbook?

At any time after the aircraft has reached the cruising altitude the aircraft orientation and gimbal angle can be adjusted by the pilot to capture oblique images. We will not ever likely offer a "3D capture" mode because we don't thing it is something that can be automated well. There are way to many variables that go into doing it properly and we don't like giving people a false sense of security or functionality.

Map Pilot can fall all convex polygon shapes for the survey area definition. It does not allow concave shapes with internal points because it makes the end result less accurate. In the case where you absolutely must keep out of an area we recommend doing multiple missions or using our Linear Flight planning tool to snake the flight path around where it needs to go.

Our log files are compatible with DroneLogbook but we haven't implemented the auto upload feature because there really hasn't been much interest in it. We don't like adding settings and things to the system that only a couple of people will use.

I realise you can manually adjust the camera on takeoff I read that in other posts but how do you know what angle it is at when you do that? Seems a bit dodgy. Appreciate a swift reply I'm off to 3D map 30 hectares in the morning.

Thanks for that, but how do I know I have set a accurate angle to the gimbal? A gimbal angle selection would not be so hard to introduce, I don't want to just try a angle and think it's correct, it needs to be precise especially if your doing multiple flights.

other apps are using these features I dont know why you come up with reasons not to include something, shouldn't it be up to the user if he chooses to use the feature or not, especially if it's something a number of people are asking for, I dont want to sound like a baby but I have invested a lot of time and money in to this app and am loyal. I just want the ability.

Other apps don't have a financial stake in the success of the processing. If we offer a data collection product that doesn't work we will get a flood of refund requests. It is easy to tell the drone to take images. It is much harder to do it in a way that will actually work when the images are processed.

It sounds like all these other apps have it covered which is why we don't offer it. Our goal is not to duplicate functionality that is available elsewhere. We don't want to offer something that doesn't work. Collecting grid mission imagery with the gimbal tipped up a bit and expecting perfect 3D models doesn't work the majority of the time.

Not that we actually recommend doing it but concave survey area layouts are available in 3.1.0 which was released today.
