distortions in my complex map

Greetings,

My map you can review here https://www.mapsmadeeasy.com/maps/detail/9f08b5a3e7414f989ceea007e6240100

has some areas where distortions have occurred in the processing.  My review of the source images shows that the images are there in good shape.  May I request another pass on these areas? The space between buildings at 35.654823x-119.891555 and the silos around 35.654276x-119.887831?

I did receive a 'camera busy' on this job a couple times. How does one slow down the flight path to avoid this?  Also, I saw a row of dots at the top of my app window with a larger one in the center and two triangles on either end. I imagine this is an important indicator of some kind, but can't find any documentation on that.

What a terrific application and service!  I stood there in awe the entire job!!  My drone is a robot!!

The first thing you ever want to look at when there are questions about your outputs is the Overlap Report. In yours, you can see that there are a lot of reds and oranges and yellows. That's a bad thing. You want everything to be a blue. This means you need to use more overlap.

Also, in the areas you are concerned about (silos and stuff) they will get less overlap because they are taller and are closer up to the camera. You will need to either add extra images of these objects, flight higher, use more overlap or all of the above to get them to turn out properly. Your source imagery needs to have at least 10-15 looks at anything you want to turn out well.

The camera busy message means your SD card can't keep up with the write out speed and you might need to choose a slower one in the Map Pilot settings to keep from dropping images.

The arrows at the top of the Map Pilot screen are direction indicators for keeping your remote centered on the aircraft which is important for maintaining signal strength.

There are a lot of moving parts to aerial mapping. We try to handle as many as we can but there is a learning curve. This is pretty good work for one of your first maps though. Keep it up!

thank you for the reply and the props, Zane.  You said "

I bet you mean slower speed, correct?

Followup question:  These folks don't care for anything but a photographic nadir view of their facility.  No topo, no 3-D. Is that possible with this app/website service?

Choose a slower SD card setting in the Map Pilot settings menu. 2.5 seconds per image is the default. Turn it down to 3 seconds per image if you are getting camera busy errors.

The web maps and all of the outputs are derived from a georeferenced 3D model. You need a lot of overlap to get the 3D model right.

slow down the frame rate... got it.  So the long answer is a 3-D model is required.  No simple look-down, shoot-down 2-D photo map is possible?

2D processing alone can stitch images but it is almost impossible to georeference it due to warping and other cumulative error effects.

so I'm heading back out to grab this map right now, and have a burning question:  Should I set my camera to 16:9 or 4:3? Does that happen in the DJI Go App or the Maps Made Easy app? My icon in the Maps Made Easy app is greyed out.  I suppose because I don't have my Phantom turned on. Any best practices for camera setup?

Map Pilot does all the settings for you but you can adjust the white balance and color saturation.

The camera control button is greyed out when there is not aircraft/camera connected.

Please make sure all other drone related apps are fully closed before using Map Pilot.
