Waypoint Distance Limit

Getting an error when I try to plan anything larger than 250 Acres.

"Distance between adjacent waypoints is over the limit of 2000m. This usually happens because the Home Point is not set. Would you like to set it?"

I choose yes and it says successful, and I try to upload the flight plan again and it gives me the same message over and over.

I typically fly large areas and it was fine in the past and worked great, but all of a sudden it's not working anymore.

The tip that shows up states that you can't have waypoints further than 2000 meters apart. A common cause of this is the home point not being set properly.

If you home point is set properly then you might want to look at whether or not your waypoints are too far apart.

One thing to keep in mind is this also applies to the distances between the home point and the start and the home point and the end of the flight path. Those legs too must be less than 2000 m in length.

In the particular cases I'm having the waypoints are not greater than 2000m. I have attached a picture showing what we were trying to fly and couldn't yesterday. We tried moving the homepoint multiple times to try to fix it.

Are you sure your firmware is up to date?

Also, make sure that the light blue line that gets displayed at the time of upload is correct and stays on the intended flight path. That line is exactly what got programmed in as waypoints. If it is off, that can cause issues.

The bottom line is your aircraft is throwing a -5020 error which means that there is too much distance between consecutive waypoints. It must be coming from somewhere. If the blue line looks OK I would recommend rebooting the aircraft and making sure that it gets a good satellite connection before trying again. Sometimes it can hang on to old locations until a really good GPS fix is received. You can also verify that the home point is set in DJI Go but be sure to close it afterwards.

Firmware is up to date. I don't think the app is calculating 2000m correctly. I am going over my flight plans in Google Earth and it is saying everything is less than the 2000m maximum any way I orient the flight lines. Could something have changed recently with the app? Like I said I have made large flights like this many times and all of a sudden it isn't working for me.

The DJI SDK is doing this check and throwing the error.

Please verify your blue flight verification line is fully as you would expect. One odd waypoint in there can throw things off.

Problem without solution? Shall we get another app?

Ricardo: All apps suffer from this limitation of 2000m between waypoints.

If you are sure none of your legs are over that limit check your blue verification line closely to make sure it is reflecting your intended layout.

As always, we highly encourage using what works best for you.

I purchased the application and can not use it. It did not reach the blue line, I tried very small distance and it did not work either. Home is very close to the area.

It sounds like you may have an issue setting the home point. Make sure the area is free of interference sources and has a good view of the sky to get at least 10 satellites.

Try to verify that the home point has been set while doing the checkout flight in DJI Go that we always recommend doing when you reach a new site. Just be sure to fully close DJI Go.

If you continue to have issues feel free to take some screenshots (home and power button at the same time) and email them to us so we can see what you are seeing.

I've slid everything, updated the Phantom firmware and rebooted the Ipad Pro! Success! Thank you!
