Map Pilot Questions

1. How do I slow down my UAV? I have the slider adjustment set to minimum and the UAV just zooms along. This creates smear. Which app determines this? I have the DJI Go app closed during MME missions; and the UAV exceeds even the DJI "speed" limit.

2. Where did the UAV icon go? After I upload the mission and the UAV takes off, there used to be a red triangle that reported position. This is now missing.

3. I plan my mission and adjust the flight path to take advantage of the prevailing wind. After I upload my mission, somehow it re-adjusts the flight path 90* to what I selected (typically making the UAV fly cross wind). This might be user error, but I can't seem to get around it.

4. Why can I not zoom into my map during the mission?

5. Would all this be solved if I deleted the app and reloaded it?

It sounds like you have all sorts of stuff going on...

1. The max speed setting should be what it is limited to. If light and image spacing allows it should go the speed defined in the settings. If it is not, we would really like to help figure out what is going on. Please tell us what version of the app and what aircraft and firmware versions you are using.

2. It shoudn't have gone anywhere... Please make sure that all of your drone related apps are FULLY closed when using Map Pilot.

3. When you hit "upload" it should program in the flight that is currently laid out on the screen. There is no reason for it to do anything else. Is it possible there was an errant two finger rotate gesture in there somewhere?

4. You should be able to. Again, you have some pretty big issues going on here.

5. Probably. We haven't heard of any of these issues before... Make sure you are on the latest version.

So this is where it all stands right now...

I dumped the app, cleaned and rebooted my iPhone 5S (current iOS) and re-installed the MME Pilot app.

Leading up to this, I did have the recent "update" before I deleted the app... but the incidents leading to this issue I was having was caused when the app blinked and the phone shut down on the last version of the app. Updating did not help (for the first round, before total deletion).

I also rebooted the DJI Go App.

My P3A is running the latest updated versions of the software. This was also the case when the program and the phone blinked.

After all this, I took the UAV out to the club's flying field and ran some trials. I did get my little red UAV icon back and my bird appeared to be adhering to the "speed" limit (no smearing reported).

So... I believe that something glitched in the MME App and caused an error in the programming. How the DJI Go app plays into all this, I don't know!?!?!? After dumping the apps and reloading everything, the UAV appears happy and healthy.

Today's mission confirmed that status.

BTW... I did have have all my other apps closed etc. That is standard practice for.

I may be subject to random "two finger" gestures, but I was being careful. That said, after my little cleansing of the apps, this problem did not present itself today.

Thank you for your attention to this. Knowing help is out there is a relief; fixing it by common troubleshooting methods is even better!!

ps.: too bad there was not a way to easily send you diagnostic data.

Regard item #3, (i.e. the flight path grid suddenly changing orientation):

While creating a new mission, if you subsequently move the blue dot showing the takeoff location, the grid will re-orient itself.
Also, later when viewing any saved/cached mission, if you switch between Metric/Imperial settings, the displayed grid will realign itself. Closing and re-opening the saved mission restores the grid to its previous as-saved condition. If you are just switching between map views (street/satellite), and have fat fingers, it's quite easy to hit the adjacent Metric/Imperial button by mistake, which re-orients the grid. I haven't tried it to see, but if you then "upload" that mission to the aircraft does it upload the re-oriented grid or the originally saved grid?

I'm using iOS Map Pilot version: 1.5.1 build 042116 on an iPad Mini 2 with iOS 9.3.1

Re #1 above: Is there a mode of "fly-stop" and take a photo, so as to eliminate "smear" of some photos ? I think in DJI SDK3 there is the possibility.

My P3P flies at over 7m/s during taking images @50m. AGL, 70% overlap

The only way to add a stop to take a picture feature is to add a waypoint at each imaging location. While this would work for very small missions, it won't likely help much for large missions since the maximum number of waypoints that can be loaded for an automated flight is 100.

If you really need low smear imagery and your mission is fairly small, we would recommend limiting the speed to 2 m/s and taking your data during bright and sunny conditions. This would minimize any smear to millimeters which is unresolvable.
